Daniel 6

That is what people want today. Unfortunately, that is not how the world works. It is the law of reaping what you sow. If you plant tomatoes, then you harvest tomatoes. If we sow seeds of strife, then strife is what we will reap.

Let's be honest, none of us like negative consequences. The way you avoid negative consequences is to avoid doing things that will produce them. For instance, if you do not want to get a DUI, don't drink and drive. While this seems logical, there seems to be a growing cry of people demanding no consequences for their actions.

In Daniel chapter 6, Darius learned a hard lesson about consequences of actions. He loved Daniel because he was a faithful servant and leader. However, there was a group that hated him because of this. They convinced Darius to make a law that made praying illegal. The penalty was death by lions. Darius, without thinking this through, signed the law. Daniel refused to not pray to God and for that was condemned to death.

Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.

Daniel 6:14

Darius did not like the consequences of his actions. He wanted to escape the consequences but could not. In the end, God delivered Daniel but it was not because of Darius. We reap what we sow.

Abortion is an attempt to escape the consequences of our actions. While there are cases where someone is raped, or a married couple feel they are not prepared to have a child, more times than not it is single women who do not want a child. The action is often sex outside of God's parameters. When sex produces that which it was designed for, reproduction, an abortion is sought to escape the consequences. Sin is used to cover up another sin.

The same is true for the "Defund The Police" movement. While bad cops should certainly be held accountable for their actions, the loudest voices fail to point out that criminal activity has been involved in every instance of the alleged excessive force. Be it wielding a weapon, selling illegal substances, dui, or what have you, if the illegal action did not take place then the cops would never have been called. Again, I am not condoning bad behavior on the part of law enforcement, but the actions of those to whom the police were called on was the beginning point. However, people want actions without consequences. Thus the cry against law and order.

No matter how hard we try, we cannot escape the consequences of our actions. That is a reality for us in life. The only consequence we can escape is judgment for our sins. The consequence of sin is eternal condemnation in the Lake of Fire. We can escape this consequence because of Jesus's death on the cross. However, we must receive that payment on God's terms. If we reject it, then we do not escape the consequences and they will be far greater than anything we could possibly face here on earth.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
