For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.
I Corinthians 16:9
I never cease to be amazed by my God! This is true in general, but when He does something amazing, well, all you can say is God did it again. A couple of weeks ago, God placed a burden on my heart to give all of our FCA students a Bible. Since FCA publishes a Bible with all kinds of student related helps in it, I knew this was what I wanted to go with. I contacted our associational missionary and asked him for help raising the funds. He sent out the email request to local churches, which I received, and I was grateful. I closed my email and thought, "We will see what comes of this". I was already planning to try and rally more support. Little did I know what was about to happen!
I closed my email and got busy with teacher stuff. That night, my sister came in to stay with me because she was in a wedding. She was late getting in, which meant I was later going to bed. I got a text about an hour after I normally go to sleep asking if I was still awake. I replied yes and took a phone call. It was our associational missionary calling to tell me that all $1,300 was being donated. Within like 12 hours we had all the money we needed. That was exciting news. I went to bed rejoicing.
Fast forward to today (3/25/21), and we had our FCA meeting that we were planning to pass the Bibles out at. Our associational missionary and his wife delivered the Bibles and stayed for the meeting. We had a guest speaker, who is one of our Hispanic missionaries, speak to the kids. He spoke about the importance of sharing your faith with your friends and not being ashamed of God.
We started with about 50 kids. I was a little let down by this number, but then an announcement went out over the intercom and students began flocking to meeting. I was excited to see the number of students, but then I got concerned. I started counting and quickly passed the 100 mark. Oh no! My heart sank. We would not have enough Bibles for all the kids. I ended at about 110 students. I told the guest that we had 110 kids. He said "Guess what? We actually brought 110 Bibles". I was relieved, well as long as I had counted correctly.
Something told me to call 3 students I know and have them wait to receive a Bible. It was 3 students who I know have their own personal Bibles. I did and they agreed. They actually left as we were passing the Bibles out and went on to class. We handed out our last Bible to the last student in line. God had worked everything out, even to leading me in exactly which students would not receive a Bible today.
After we finished, the associational missionary told me that there were actually more funds that had come in and they were going to order more Bibles, so there was no problem getting these 3 kids their copy. I was thrilled. I then went and found those three kids and thanked them for being selfless. That made them smile as well. They did not know it, but they were a part of God's plan and got to be a blessing as well.
Where my vision lacked, God had perfect sight!
Where my faith lacked, God had all things worked out!
Where there was an apparent lack of supplies, God allowed those who had nothing to have the chance to give anyway!
What cost me nothing, blessed me immensely!
